Lab Report Analysis Reflection

Self-Reflection:

For me finishing the lab report analysis was a process of learning and discovering this new way of writing. I’ve never done a lab report or read a lab report before ever in my life, and for this class work, I get to read deeply into a lab report and break down all the different parts that build a lab report. When comparing the difference, gives me a better idea of how to write a high-quality lab report in the future because I’m looking at the reports from a reader’s perspective and I can tell which way of expressing myself can be more effective to other readers. Also, one of the interesting things I found while doing the analysis part was that not all the authors or writers followed that re-accommodated format of lab report so the author can choose to follow the list of the eight elements, or they can also choose to contain certain part from the list and change some of the options to something else. One of the problems I’ve come across while doing the assignment was finding a lab report that is about the topic, I’m interested in. My major is Computer Science and the report topic that I wish to find is built around my major but most of the reading I found was either a book or a piece of information about the related topic, it’s not an official lab report. It took me a long time to research for the lab report that has connected topics and in the format that contains eight topics as the title, abstract, introduction, methods and material, results, discussion, conclusion, and reference. During the zoom break-out room discussion, my peer said that this is one of the problems they had come a crossed too and some of the lab reports they found only have an abstract and a piece of information and that’s it, so they don’t know if the report can be used as one of the compare choices. For the two reports I’ve found that even though they are formatted the same and in similar topics, the way they present information creates an obvious difference. One of the reports I’ve read is about Artificial intelligence (AI) and in that report they provided an explanation for the information and to the audience, it’s easier to know what the author is trying to tell. Unlike the second lab report which is just the author giving the reader information about VR and it’s dry and boring. In conclusion, this assignment is a great introduction to a lab report and can allow me to know more about the factors that are needed for a professional lab report.
